Financial impact
Since I was diagnosed with cancer in September 2009 I have been unable to continue with my career as an office manager. I have worked for two of the greatest dentist since the age of seventeen. My husband has now had to take full responsibility in supporting us both including our two beautiful little girls, Katalina 9years old and Emily 4yrs.old. Because the type of cancer that I was diagnosed with made it'sway into my left lung, the chemotherapy treatment required in the beginning (MAC), was very aggressive and I was receiving therapy 5 days a week every 2 weeks. Since, my cells became resistant to this tx. I needed an even more aggressive treatment that was required weekly (Ema-CO). Having to figure out how to make my co-pays, pay mortgage, car, utilities and groceries for our family has just been mentally exhausting and challenging. We are now traveling back and fourth to MD Anderson in Houston to get a second opinion and hopefully put all this behind us for good. We are very fortunate to receive medical rates at the hotels in Houston however $50.00 a night can still be tough to come up with at this time in our lives.
